RULES & CONDITIONS |
|
1.
|
The competitions
are open to amateur male golfers who are 55 or over at 00:00 hours on
1 September 2008, in possession of a CONGU handicap, and who are members
of an affilated Golf Club in the North District of the Scottish Golf Union,

2. |
The competitions will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status as approved by R & A Rules Limited. |

3. |
Each competition will be over 18 holes and the lowest scores will win the various prizes. |
|
4. |
Each competition is governed by the Executive of the North District and the Executive will make decisions, and settle disputes, such decisions and settlements being final. |
|
5. |
The competitons will be: (a) Lowest Scratch. Prizes for the winner - The Macallan Trophy, Silver Medal and voucher for £100. Those placed 2nd and 3rd will gain vouchers for £80 and £60. (b) Scratch and Handicap prizes in each of four age classes: A (55-59), B (60-64), C (65-69), and D (70 and over) years of age. Ages are those on the day of the competition. Prizes in each class are Scratch Winner £50 voucher and Handicap 1st, 2nd and 3rd vouchers for £50, £40, and £30. |

The competitions will be played at Muir of Ord Golf Club on Friday 5 September 2008. |

7. |
The closing date for entries will be Monday 25 August 2008 at 17:00 hours, by which time an entry, to be accepted, must be in the hands of the Secretary of the North District. It is the responsibilty of the entrant to ensure that an entry is received by the Secretary by the due time on the due date. The Secretary will be the sole arbiter of compliance with this requirement, and no correspondence nor discussion will be entered into with regard to the decision in this respect. |
| 8. | All entries must include Full Name, Address, Date of Birth, Contact Telephone Number, Home Club and Exact Handicap. Forms of entry will be in the hands of all Secretaries of member clubs in the North District not later than 29 February 2008. Similar forms will be in the hands of the Secretary of the North District not later than 29 February 2008. The form of entry requires to be signed by the entrant and also by the Secretary of the Home Club, whose signature certifies the bona fides of the entrant and the accuracy of his exact handicap. |

9. |
The entry fee is £12 and will not be refunded in any circumstances other than balloting out hereunder. |

10. |
Forms of entry and Rules and Conditions will be posted on the North District Website (www.sgunorthgolf.com) by 29 February 2008 and may be downloaded therefrom. |

11. |
A competitor is not permitted to withdraw at any stage of the competition except for emergency reasons or medical circumstances explained to and accepted by the Executive. A competitor failing to notify the Executive in person of his withdrawal before departing the competition venue will be subject to an automatic one year ban from all North District events, such ban also to apply if such withdrawal is not accepted as aforesaid. Only in exceptional circumstances and on appeal to the Executive will the ban be uplifted. |

12. |
Late entries will not be accepted but any entry received late will be placed on a reserve list, for admission to the competition in the event of withdrawals or otherwise at the discretion of the Executive. |

13.
|
The draw for play will be made and published on the website (www.sgunorthgolf.com) and in the Press & Journal not later than Tuesday 02 August 2008. No preferred tee times will be granted. The Executive will endeavour to comply with travelling arrangements specified, but accepts no obligation to do so. |

Caddies will be
permitted and buggies may be used.

15. |
The Macallan Trophy remains the property of the North District. It will be held by the Golf Club of the winner, and that winner and his Golf Club will be jointly responsible for returning it to the Secretary of the North District not later than 28 August 2009. Having had the Trophy engraved. |

16. |
Competitors will be allowed the courtesy of Golspie Golf Club for a practie round on Monday 1 September, Wednesday 3 September or Thursday 4 September, prior booking being required. |

17. |
The Executive reserves the right to fix a maximum number of entries, and to ballot out in ascending order of handicap. The entry fee of an entrant balloted out will be returned. |

18. |
A tie for the Macallan Trophy will be decided by a play-off over two holes, thereafter sudden death played immediately. Any other tie for first place will be decided by matching scorecards, otherwise known as countback. A tie for the lesser places will remain ties and the voucher amounts will be amalgamated and divided. |

19. |
The Executive reserves the right to amend or add to these Rules in order to achieve a result. |
